What a quiet week it’s been! And I’m not complaining about it either. I’ve spent so much time just giggling with my kids and having fun that time has flown by and it’s made me realise how much I’m gonna miss their little faces all day when they go back to school. Another academic year where they grow and change rapidly. As soon as they go back, I have to apply for my middle son’s secondary school place which feels so emotionally heavy right now. I’ve been a little all over the place for the past few days. Happy but also reflective on a lot of things. I’ve been sharing the songs I wrote little by little and even finally braved sharing the story of my dad’s passing which feels like it’s helped a little. Honouring his memory feels important to me as I navigate the life ahead as a daughter without her dad. Nobody ever warned me it would still be this painful to even reflect on after three years of learning to accept it. I guess that’s the downside to a love so pure and strong. When that person is taken from you, they leave with a piece of your heart…
But throughout it all, there’s been smiles and laughter which I know he’d have shared. Sunday, me and my aunty took all the kids to the beach for the day. Letting them paddle in the sea and build sandcastles and play in the amusement arcades and all sorts. The laughs didn’t stop coming and we all had the best time.
The rest of the week, hasn’t been too active, although my youngest is sleeping at my mums on Thursday evening and my middle son is spending this weekend at his dad’s which I love for him. I’ve built blanket fortresses with my youngest and play fought with my middle child and laughed at the most ridiculous TikTok videos with my eldest and generally just soaked in every moment.
For the week ahead, I’m deciding what part of my own story to share next? A part of me knows I need to take things back to the start of when I made the wrong decisions with men and how that started a cycle of me not noticing the red flags in narcissists for a long time. But do I address that now? Or do I wait until I have spoken about a few other things? I’m sure I’ll decide soon. If you have a preference for what you want to know more about, leave a comment. Either here or on my socials (making it clear it’s a topic suggestion) or send an email for me to review and reply to.
All in all, life’s a party and the soundtrack has mainly been One Direction or the boys solo works. I’m now going to go and prepare next week’s content!
Lotsa love
