Hello everyone!

It’s been more quiet this week. In all honesty I’ve taken a small step back to actually try and figure out what to talk about. What I can discuss without any major backlash. Not because I’m scared. Not anymore. But because in healing from those wounds that shaped me into who I am today, I’ve learned the way I say things is important. I could write as a bitter ex girlfriend or scorned ex friend or the girl who just wants to be loved correctly. But those things aren’t reflective of how far I’ve come. So how do I write these from the perspective of the woman who not only survived those things but rose from the ashes, stronger and thriving? So that’s where I am. Not giving up. Not fearful. Just reflective and respectful of boundaries and context.

What a quiet week it’s been! And I’m not complaining about it either. I’ve spent so much time just giggling with my kids and having fun that time has flown by and it’s made me realise how much I’m gonna miss their little faces all day when they go back to school. Another academic year where they grow and change rapidly. As soon as they go back, I have to apply for my middle son’s secondary school place which feels so emotionally heavy right now. I’ve been a little all over the place for the past few days. Happy but also reflective on a lot of things. I’ve been sharing the songs I wrote little by little and even finally braved sharing the story of my dad’s passing which feels like it’s helped a little. Honouring his memory feels important to me as I navigate the life ahead as a daughter without her dad. Nobody ever warned me it would still be this painful to even reflect on after three years of learning to accept it. I guess that’s the downside to a love so pure and strong. When that person is taken from you, they leave with a piece of your heart…

Well… what a week it has been! It seems that I have found the audacity to keep throwing myself out of my comfort recently and oh boy is it an exhilarating experience! I didn’t get the opportunity I alluded to last week, however I sort of knew I’d be rejected for that so I wasn’t too disappointed. It would have been nice but it’s not the end of the world. My time will come. I did however, decide to put two of the songs I’ve written out into the world, which was absolutely terrifying! They are here on the website, if you wish to check them out. I also made a video that gives the back story behind my song: The Mark of Love (the song I wrote about my dad’s passing) and opened up more about that which can be found on my social media platforms for sophsworld. My aim now is to keep the momentum going and open up more about things I’ve been through and maybe share a few more songs if I’m feeling really brave…

I made a decision! Well I’ve made a surprising number of those this week but one in particular: I am going to make a video to talk about grief of losing a parent. Things I wish I knew beforehand that happened, the complex emotions that take place and what life looks like 3 years on from losing said parent. I will try to find a way to upload it to the website but if I fail epically, it will be available on all of my social media platforms.

This week has been quieter than expected considering all three children have been off school. It’s been nice to switch off the school run alarms and just relax with them instead of rushing about. Friday saw them complete their final day which had me a little emotional as I realised just how much they’ve grown. That said, all three of them have made me incredibly proud of their growth over the past few months and I look forward to seeing how each handles the new challenges they face next school year.

So another busy week has been had here at Soph's World but it has been another good one! As I sit and reflect on the small things, the big things and everything in between, I can honestly say it makes me smile. From getting on with painting my dining room to cooking healthier meals and enjoying life again, there's been plenty to keep me busy.

What a week it has been since I published my introduction! It’s been a good week but at the same time, I have felt a mixed bag of emotions for the past few days. On Saturday, I got to see Harry Styles' final night at Wembley for a second show I've seen on his Together Together tour and it was an amazing experience. Especially as I got to see a friend who lives in Switzerland as well! However, things took a turn when we missed the last train back from King’s Cross. Although it was annoying at the time, we ended up making new friends and making fun memories. What started off feeling like a disaster (after the concert) turned into us having lots of fun and laughing until our ribs hurt.

I figured my first blog post should probably introduce me and give you a taste of what's to come. So... hi! I'm Sophie, aka Soph and this is an insight into my world and the weird and wonderful workings of my mind.
